Installation Instructions for McAfee Enterprise 8.7i
Instructions for Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista and Server 2003
Warning: Please be sure to uninstall any other anti-virus software from your system before installing McAfee VirusScan for Windows.
To begin, you need to keep your computer from getting infected continuously while you install and run the anti virus software.
- Disconnect the computer from the network (also disable any wireless cards you have) even if you have been blocked, quarantined or disconnected by ITS.
- Next, you will need to perform the actual McAfee VirusScan installation, by double clicking the file you just saved.
- When prompted for license information choose perpetual license from the pull down.
- Follow prompts to complete installation
- Once installation is complete Setup System Scan
- Open the VirusScanConsole by selecting Start > All Programs > Network Associates > VirusScan Console.
- Right-click on Scan All Fixed Disks and select Properties.
- Under the Detection tab, ensure the “Scan inside archives” box is checked.
- Click “OK”
- Note: The virus definitions in this installation of Viruscan are recent enough to remove your machine from quarrantine,
but may not be the very latest. You may want to force an update of these once you can log into the RIT network.
