Mac OS X: Operating System Updates
While there aren't many viruses which exist for the Mac, the number that exist is increasing. The best way to reduce the chance of contracting a computer virus is to apply Software Updates frequently.
Updating Mac OS X 10.3 and later:
Click on the Apple menu in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
Select Software Update.
Follow the update instructions.
If you are running a version of Mac OS X 10.2 or earlier:
Click on the Apple menu in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
Select System Preferences. This will open the System Preferences window.
Click on Software Update.
Follow the update instructions.
