Your RIT Computer Account username serves as your E-Mail address at RIT. Your basic email address is your username followed by @rit.edu (e.g. abc1234@rit.edu). In the process of activation you were required to decide on how you would like your mail forwarded. If you chose to have your RIT E-Mail delivered to the RIT Exchange server, the following information will help you set up your E-Mail client to receive mail sent to your account.
The easiest way to access your RIT email is to use RIT's Outlook Web Access (OWA), which can be accessed from any Internet connected computer using a web browser. Simply enter the URL http://mymail.rit.edu into the location and authenticate when prompted using your RIT username and password. You will be automatically directed to your inbox, and have nearly all the functionality of Microsoft Outlook, including all of the email in the folders of your exchange account, address book (contacts), and calendar.
Starting August 2009, RIT will be moving to Google-hosted email for student accounts. Incoming students can access their mail at http://google.rit.edu/. Faculty and staff email accounts will remain on the RIT Exchange mail system. For more information about this transition, visit http://google.rit.edu/switch.php
If you would like to set up an E-Mail Client program such as Outlook, Netscape, Apple Mail, or the equivalent, you may find detailed information by visiting the ITS web site: http://www.rit.edu/its/services/email. This web page provides details on how to set up the most common E-Mail clients.
For problems with RIT email, please contact the ITS HelpDesk at 475-HELP(4357).
